Pop-Up Story Book

The mind is the author of the Pop-Up World that we simply awake to find each day as the display of our “play.” The mind is not a “something” but an activity of identification and differentiation, almost entirely bound to the Pop-Up World as it merely seems to be. This activity encloses us as a Pop-up cosmic googy, and the world is not passive to this self-enclosure but exacts its “just desserts” when we remain unable or unwilling to penetrate the illusion of appearances. At “birth” the pop-up story book is projected out of the Heart, written as reaction to conventional “embodiment,” seen as enclosure within a body destined for insignificance and death. The reaction is the story, the story is the reaction. All stories are about time—beginnings, middles and ends—where attraction and revulsion shape a landscape in which what we are attracted to destroys us, in time, in the end.

Living from the point of view of mind is already in reaction. The “usual” person is this reaction, fitted to emotional dramas or stoicism, yet always rooted in fear. Fear, sorrow and anger seed the pop-up story and multiply into shame, disgust, greed, envy, jealousy and guilt, leading ever deeper into dark woods where paranoia sharpens and humanness disappears. There is no freedom where there is no Humour. To indulge the moods of mind is to remain in a degrading story of the sub-human consuming the sub-human, where the human as loving presence has yet to appear. The essence of the human is the Humour that is Reality.

Our true form does not arise from the pop-up story book but is beyond all themes as mindless embodiment, as if burning the story page by page in the fire of Real Consciousness. To be human is to be restored to the Humour of mindless embodiment, beyond reaction and the endless adventure of survival. For the “usual” person the slayer is always slain and the story returns to the Heart to begin again. But as the One Awakened to mindless embodiment, the pop-up story is outshone in the Wondrous Blissful Humour of the Great God, beyond all cosmic displays, dissolved eternally in Love Bliss, overwhelming the destiny of the “born being” until it passes from sight.
