All That Is Truly Great Transcends The Tribe And All That Is Tribal

The family, especially in the Western world, operates as a primary social structure through which governments maintain control, largely via property and legal ownership. It is elevated as an unquestionable ideal, so that loyalty to family becomes the highest virtue and dissent the greatest fault. In this way, family becomes both the promoter of approved pursuits and the guardian of unspoken taboos.

Families often align themselves with religion, borrowing its righteousness by association. Yet even the teachings of Jesus of Nazareth challenge the elevation of family as the highest value, revealing a tension between spiritual truth and tribal loyalty. The family structure, rooted in survival, resists anything that threatens its continuity and stands opposed to the pursuit of real life, which “brokers no truck” with mere survival or distraction from the way anything actually is.

Real life is an awakening in consciousness: a shift from the ad hoc principle of self-survival, to the principle of self-sacrifice. Since all things pass and nothing can be claimed within creation, self-sacrifice accords with reality and breaks identification with what must die. Family zeal, rooted in fear, may label this absolute pursuit as false or evil, preferring the relativism of family bonds. Yet the moral invitation is to discover one’s real possibility in every moment - the transcendence of all that is in the blissful reality of Only God, until all that passes slips away, scarcely noticed in unending swoon of Love Bliss forever.
